A NEW series of drop-in meditation classes is due to start in Settle on Monday, January 14.

Organised by Settle Buddhist Mediation group, the New Year, New Direction series of classes will include guided meditations and also a talk on how individuals can practixe and apply meditation.

Kelsang Thonchog, resident teacher, based at the Buddha Land Kadampa Buddhist Centre, said there are many benefits of meditation.

“Through meditation we can learn to relax, let go of daily concerns, and develop a fresh and positive outlook. Meditation also helps us to develop inner good qualities, such as patience and inner peace. This leads to greater happiness and contentment and an authentic self-confidence. Both our personal relationships and our overall health improve.”

The meditation classes are suitable for both beginners and those with experience. They are self-contained so can be attended on a drop-in basis. Each week a different aspect of meditation will be covered.

The classes will take place at The Friends Meeting House, Kirkgate, Settle, on Mondays from 7.30pm to 9pm. Classes are £6 each, or £20 for four. More details online at: enjoymeditation.org, call 01535 958189, or e-mail to info@enjoymeditation.org.
