PM Modi, Mongolian Prez to jointly unveil Lord Buddha’s statue at Gandan Monastery

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mongolian President Khaltmaagiin Battulga will jointly unveil the Lord Buddha’s statue at Gandan Monastery in Ulaanbaatar through video-conferencing today. The Mongolian President, who arrived in New Delhi yesterday on a five-day state visit to India, will also meet President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu. He is accompanied by a high-level official and business delegation.

AIR correspondent reports that during the meeting between Mongolian President and President Kovind, India and Mangolia is expected to sign and exchange agreements in different fields. This is the first State Visit by a Mongolian President in last ten years. During the meetings between Mongolian President and Indian leadership, the two sides will hold in-depth discussions on a range of bilateral, regional and global issues.

They will also review ongoing cooperation in fields of infrastructure, energy, disaster management, defence, security, culture and capacity building. India and Mongolia had established a Strategic Partnership in 2015 during the visit of Prime Minister Modi to Mongolia. The partnership between the countries which is based on the ideals of freedom and democracy and on a strong foundation of shared Buddhist heritage ,has seen considerable progress during the last few years .

During his stay, the Mongolian President will visit Agra where he is scheduled to attend an event. He will also be paying a visit to Bodh Gaya before leaving for Karnataka where he will hold meeting with state Governor and attend a programme on Monday.
