Sukiyaki is cooked to order at the Tacoma Buddhist Temple Sukiyaki Fundraiser Dinner.

Some people wait all year for this community gathering to enjoy sukiyaki, a traditional Japanese hot pot dish of thinly sliced beef, vegetables and tofu simmered in a sweet soy broth. Temple members and supporters cook the sukiyaki in view of diners.

Other Japanese specialties will include teriyaki chicken and miso soup, plus mochi (sweet rice) cupcakes and mochi ice cream.

Cost of the food items ranges from $1 to $14. Credit cards, cash and checks are accepted. Proceeds support the temple.

Visitors can dine in the temple’s social hall or order take-out.

The dinner lasts only four hours, so hurry in before your favorites sell out!
