Here are some things not t to miss this weekend in the post-Christmas lull before New Year.

1. Ultimate Pop Party

Katy Perry and Taylor Swift tribute acts come to Barrow’s Soccer Bar on Saturday.

Lasts between 1pm and 4pm. From the Ultimate Events team who brought S Club and Vengaboys to Craven Park earlier this year.

2. Parkrun

Dust off the Christmas cobwebs with a 5km run in Ulverston’s Ford Park, Fell Foot Park and Newby Bridge to give yourself a running start for next year.

All start at 9am on Saturday.

3. The Houghton Weavers at the Coronation Hall, Ulverston

The comedy folk group are playing at the Coro on Saturday.

Starts at 7.30pm. Tickets from £12.

4. Kids Club at Manjushri Kadampa Meditation Centre, Ulverston

Family fun day meditations, games, stories and activities at Ulverston’s Buddhist centre on Sunday from 10.30am.

5. Let’s Dance at Coronation Hall

A Christmas and New Year dance to the music of recording artist David Last.

Ballroom, Latin, and sequence dancing from 7.30pm on Friday night.

Tickets £12 on the door.

6. Art at Blackwell House, Windermere

Creations from top sculptor Grayson Perry feature among exhibitions at Blackwell arts and craft house in Windermere.

7. Barrow AFC v Salford City

Don’t miss the Bluebirds when they take on high-flying Salford City at Holker Street on Saturday.

The match, which kicks off at 12.35pm, is also being shown on BT Sport.

Ian Evatt’s team sit 11th in the Conference Premier.

8. Dalton Christmas Tree Festival

The last few days of the town’s famous Christmas tree festival. Entry to the display featuring around 50 decorated Christmas trees at St Mary’s Church is open from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.

9. Newton Arms charity darts competition

The Dalton pub is hosting a darts competition for charity on Saturday.

Registration from 12pm for a 1pm start. £10 entry fee. Money goes to Mind Furness.

10. Earth Photo Exhibition at Grizedale Forest

Photos of the Earth and all its diversity are promised at Grizedale visitor centre this weekend.

The images are drawn from the Earth Photo exhibition and feature 1280 submissions from 19 different countries.
