The Center for Spiritual Living will host an interfaith meditation at 3 p.m. Jan. 1 at 1795 Old Moultrie Road.

The event, “The Stillness: Interfaith Group Meditation,” will be led by Kadam Carol Lutker, Resident Teacher at the Maitreya Kadampa Buddhist Center in St. Augustine and Atlantic Beach.

Previously, gatherings for “The Stillness” have been led by teachers of Hindu Vedanta, Christian and Zen traditions.

“The Stillness” offers an opportunity for people of all beliefs, ages and backgrounds to come together as a community on New Year’s Day for a short period of silent meditation — moments of peace.

No previous meditation experience is required. All silent meditative and contemplative practices are honored. Each participant is invited to enter “The Stillness” according to his or her own personal beliefs.

Included in the event will be a concert on hammered dulcimer by Robert Burns, a local artist.

A brief social time will follow the service. Participants are invited to bring holiday treats to share.
