Police were seeking the unidentified suspect wanted who allegedly caused damage to Buddhist statues at a Flushing Chinese Buddhist Temple.


Police were seeking the public’s help in identifying a male suspect wanted for allegedly vandalizing multiple Buddhist statues at a temple in Flushing.

Law enforcement sources said the episode occurred Jan. 16 at 11:10 a.m. inside of the Chinese Buddhist Temple, located at 136-12 39th Ave.

According to authorities, the vandal walked into the temple and proceeded to hurl a large concrete stone at Buddhist statues, causing damage. The incident was later reported to the 109th Precinct.

On Jan. 19, the NYPD released video footage of the suspect wanted in connection with the vandalism. He’s described as an Asian male standing 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a medium build, 155 pounds, and approximately 30 years old. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweater with blue denim jeans and tan construction work boots.
